Yesterday, the Union of Free Trade Unions received over 50 objections to the calculation of net wages under the "Europe Now 2" program, mostly due to the fact that the employees believe that compensation for past work should have been calculated on the new minimum wage amounts.
This trade union reminds that two years ago, during the drafting of the new General Collective Agreement, in negotiations with the social partners, they demanded that compensation for past work be calculated on the amount of the minimum wage, but that the employers and representatives of the Government were against it and that proposal in the end it was not adopted.
In recent months, "Vijesti" has repeatedly pointed out that the new minimum wage will include all benefits such as overtime allowances, on-call work, work on weekends and holidays... but not compensation for past work, although this is not logical.
The employees who complained believe that now the same salary, for positions with secondary school and lower qualifications, of 600 euros, is earned by employees with 30 years of service and those who have just started an employment relationship, which they believe is injustice.
According to the labor law and the General Collective Agreement, "the employee's basic salary is increased for each completed year of service (past work), namely: up to 10 years by 0,5%; from 10 to 20 years for 0,75%; over 20 years for 1%”. This would mean that someone with 30 years of work experience would receive 30 percent more earnings than someone who just started working. However, this form of calculation does not apply to the minimum wage.
The minimum wage is now calculated by calculating that employee's actual wage based on the starting coefficients for that job and education. For example, if a starting salary of 450 euros is obtained in this way, it is increased by past work, for example by 30 percent for 30 years of service, and the amount is 585 euros. Then "remuneration up to the amount of the minimum wage of 15 euros" is added to the payroll and the amount of the minimum wage is 600 euros.
That much was also received by a beginner in that position, whose basic salary is 450 euros, and "remuneration up to the minimum" of 150 euros.
The Union of Free Trade Unions will propose these and similar remarks to the social partners for reconsideration.
Employees who doubt the accuracy of the calculation have the right to complain to the Labor Inspectorate, which is responsible for controlling the correctness of the calculation of wages.
Women in labor do not get an increase
The Union of Free Trade Unions also received comments from an employee who is on maternity leave, and who received her salary in the same amount as the previous month.
The problem is that the salary compensation for maternity leave is calculated in the amount of the average net salary for the previous 12 months and it does not increase during the duration of the maternity leave. This type of compensation is reimbursed by the state to the employer.
The USS states that this problem will be referred to the authorities in the Government, because now it is happening that the woman in labor is being punished in some way because other workers at the same employer got an increase in wages, due to a reduction in contributions, but not her.
