Seasonality and focus on the coastal region of the country are still big challenges, and the goal is to extend the tourist season and attract tourists to all parts of Montenegro, announced the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
During her official visit to London, she met with representatives of the British Chamber of Commerce, which primarily focuses on investments and international cooperation.
During the meeting, Kordić pointed out that tourism accounts for more than 30 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Montenegro, which significantly contributes to the national economy and the overall stability of the country.
She said that the relevant ministry is working intensively on new phases of strategic planning that will ensure sustainable and stable growth of the sector.
"The pandemic has shown a growing interest in active tourism and authentic experiences, such as enjoying untouched nature or vacationing on agricultural farms while tasting local, organic food," explained Kordić.
The meeting also discussed the possibilities for increasing the number of flights between Montenegro and Great Britain, especially during the off-season, which would further encourage tourist flows.
Representatives of the British Chamber of Commerce announced that the first international conference after the covid pandemic will be held on March 20 next year, in which Montenegro could have a significant participation.
It was agreed that concrete steps to improve cooperation will be considered until then.
At the meeting, it was concluded that communication will be continued at the level of the chambers of commerce of the two countries, with the aim of strengthening mutual relations and further investments.
