The Montenegrin Littoral Regional Waterworks has achieved record results in the past ten months, announced the executive director of that state-owned enterprise, Borislav Ivanković.
The announcement states that the revenues from water delivery on October 31 amounted to 3.166,5 euros, and that they are higher by 10,64 percent compared to the same period last year.
It is added that for the first ten months of the year, 7.825.378 cubic meters (m3) of water were delivered, that is, 23 percent more than the contracted quantities.
As stated in the announcement, one of the reasons for the higher demand for water from the regional water supply system is the problem with the local springs from which water is supplied to the municipality of Kotor.
Ivanković pointed out that from November 1 to 15, the Regional Water Supply delivered 30 to 40 percent more water than contracted to all water supply companies of the Montenegrin coast.
"Thus, as a company, we showed seriousness and professionalism in business," Ivanković pointed out.
As he added, in addition to water-based revenues, the Regional Waterworks also recorded an increase in revenues from special fees on investments, and those revenues increased by 12,27 percent when compared to the time period of last year.
"The regional water company takes care of every euro spent, for which all the employees of this company are most responsible, who give their maximum contribution every day in the execution of work tasks", said Ivanković.
He pointed out that the Regional Water Supply has established excellent communication and cooperation with all local water supplies, all in order to ensure an orderly and continuous supply of water during the entire calendar year.
"The result of good relations with local water supply companies is the result of a plan for the realization of new projects with which local water supply companies will provide water in inaccessible parts of their municipalities," said Ivanković.
According to his words, with such domestic treatment towards a state-owned company, they protect the interests of the company and the state of Montenegro.
Ivanković emphasized that the Regional Waterworks, despite these achieved results, is still facing serious difficulties in business.
"The biggest problem is the decline in the yield of the "Bolje Sestre" spring. The construction of sand banks in the bed of the Morača river and the construction of a filter plant for water purification with a capacity of 100 l/s at the "Bolje Sestre" spring are some of the ways we are trying to solve this long-standing problem" , explained Ivanković.
As he added, the construction of that filter plant would provide an additional 100 l/s during the summer tourist season, when the demand for water increases significantly.
Ivanković said that, in the implementation of those projects, they have significant support and daily communication with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, headed by the relevant minister, Damjan Ćulafić.
