Montenegro's accession to the Single Market for Payments in Euros (SEPA) opens up numerous economic opportunities and brings concrete benefits for citizens and the economy, said the Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković.
In a video statement, he said that Montenegro officially became part of SEPA today, which represents a significant step in the process of the country's integration into the European Union (EU).
"With the great commitment of the Government and the dedicated work of the Ministry of Finance, and with the support of the Central Bank (CBCG), today Montenegro became the first country in the Western Balkans to join SEPA. This confirms the Government's efforts and commitment to Montenegro's EU membership," Vuković added.
According to him, it is a big step that brings concrete benefits for Montenegrin citizens and the economy, which are reflected in the speed, convenience and efficiency of payments in euros, ensuring greater competitiveness and new business opportunities.
"In this way, the government enabled the citizens and the economy to feel the benefits of SEPA even before joining the EU. Our main goal is to create a better and more prosperous Montenegro as well as a more desirable place to live, work and invest," Vuković concluded.
