Because of the illegal building on the left bank of Lima, the World Bank project of building a promenade in the coastal forts is not threatened.
This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, which reacted to the text published on November 21, entitled "Demolished garage on the route of the promenade on Lim".
In the announcement of the Ministry, signed by the State Secretary Krsto Radjenović, it is stated that "the project for the improvement of the left bank of the Lim in Bijelo Polje, on the stretch from the Fire Station to Limska Street, is being implemented through the Regional Project of the World Bank, the Project for the Integrated Development of the Corridor of the Sava and Drina Rivers, which represents one of the largest initiatives of the World Bank in the field of water management, with a total value of 330 million euros, with an emphasis on infrastructure development and flood protection, which enabled through credit the charge for Montenegro will provide funds in the amount of 15 million euros for the construction of capital infrastructure facilities for flood protection".
"The contract with the World Bank was signed by the Ministry of Finance in October 2020, and the project investor is the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. The Ministry, as an investor, has so far signed contracts for two locations, namely in Berane and Bijelo Polje. The contracts for both locations were signed on March 27, 2024, and the selected contractor is Konzorcijum Kolubara doo & HSVd.oo. The total value of the works, which will be realized through the implementation of the signed contracts, is EUR 8.601.787,23 (excluding VAT from whom the project was released) of which EUR 4.414.469,88 is the value of the contract for works in Berane and 4.187.315,35 for works in Bijelo Polje. The deadline for completing the works is 18 months.
From the beginning of the works, we had a problem with the removal of an illegal building/garage located in the project area. Representatives of the Ministry repeatedly insisted at meetings, as well as through official letters, that the disputed building be removed, that is, that the Municipality fulfill its obligations, so that the dynamics of the works would not be disturbed, which eventually happened with the demolition of the building on 20. . in 11. The project was never called into question, nor did the World Bank hint at abandoning the project, due to the fact that it is a government loan and that the Ministry is the project's investor.
The project is progressing according to plan, and the Municipality of Bijelo Polje will, with the construction of a coastal fort, bicycle path and promenade, in addition to flood protection, gain useful areas for various recreational activities, which will contribute to a better visual appearance and attractiveness of Bijelo Polje", the Ministry's response states.
