There is little chance that from January part of the proportional pensions will be increased to 450 euros, which is the minimum pension in the country, and the government has a higher "priority" to provide higher salaries to the highest officials, announced the Action for Social Justice.
From that non-governmental organization (NGO), they said that it is estimated that about 3,5 thousand users of proportional pensions receive a pension below the minimum of 450 euros, and it was recently announced that the state would have to provide about five million euros a year to increase the threshold of their incomes. to the lowest pension.
"At the session of the Committee for Economy, Finance and Budget of the Assembly at the beginning of this week, organized on the topic of Fiscal Strategy, the representative of the Ministry of Finance hinted that "during the next year" the issue of increasing proportionate pensions should be resolved for those pensioners who are below the minimum pension of 450 euros," the announcement states.
When the participants at the session asked if this meant that there would be no increase in proportional pensions since January, even though this had been hinted at months ago, the representative of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs explained that legal changes had to be made.
"There will be a public discussion", it was said at the said Committee.
The NGO announced that neither on the website of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Welfare, nor on the website of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography, there is currently no announcement for any public discussion on amendments to the Law on Pension Disability Insurance, even though it is already the beginning of December.
"Also, for now, none of the MPs has submitted a proposal for legal changes on this issue, which is a possible mechanism for speeding up the entire procedure, while it is not known whether anyone will do it and whether there is a willingness of the majority of parties to support this solution, which is necessary for the cost to be included in the budget for the following year", said the ASP.
The budget for the next year must be adopted by the end of this month, and the possibility that legal acts will not be signed by the president of the state, which is a practice he has regulated in relation to most of what comes to him from the state parliament, should also be taken into account. additional time for re-votes and signatures.
"And while the issue of proportionate pensions still remains undefined, the public debate continues for another week regarding the controversial amendments to the Law on Salaries of Public Sector Employees, which are expected to be implemented from the beginning of January, and the projected annual cost of 8,5 million for the average increase salary of 30 percent for the highest public officials", the announcement states.
This, as it is added, means that the current government has more sensitivity towards public officials, who certainly already have decent salaries and who through the implementation of the Europe Now Two program have already received increases, than towards those whom it is both socially and morally fairer to support.
"The government has "frozen" the minimum pension for two years, so it can be increased only from January 2026. In the next three-year period, only regular adjustments of pensions and social benefits are projected, and no one has any idea that they will "freeze" for two years the highest earnings in the public administration," the announcement concludes.
