The coal mine will start construction of the building in the spring, and the apartments will mostly be intended for the company's employees.

This was announced by the CEO of Rudnik Uljja Nemanja Laković.

He explained that they have already submitted a request for construction on the site of the former mining workshop, which he considers one of the most attractive locations in Pljevlja.

He said that the workshop will be moved to the reclaimed area of the Potrlica surface mine.

He pointed out that the company annually allocates significant funds to solve the housing issues of employees and that in the future, a larger part of the housing fund will be directed to construction, and a part will be set aside for payment.

"Taking into account the data on the outflow of the population from Pljevlja, the idea of how to take concrete steps to stop it as a matter of priority was thought about. Also, we were all shocked by the fact that in EPCG, out of 165 housing loans for employees of the Pljevlja TPP, as many as 163 were realized outside the territory of the municipality of Pljevlja. Through such a policy, unfortunately, it has been confirmed that people are definitely leaving our city en masse... That's why we decided to build that really representative building in Pljevlja. The construction of the building will also start the construction group of the mine, so that we create even more stable jobs for our employees. The construction will last two or three years, we will have our employees constantly, so the benefit of such a decision is multiple," Laković said.

He added that the location where the building will be built is located five minutes from the city center, in the vicinity of Stražica Park.

It is about the construction of one of the three buildings that will be built as part of the Pljevlja Recovery Plan, the conceptual solutions of which were done in coordination with the team of the Government and the Municipality of Pljevlja, and the mine will carry them out in its own arrangement.

"On that mining plot, there are urban planning and technical conditions for the construction of a building that would have 21.000 square meters, or 242 apartments and 21 bars. These would be three new buildings, in addition to the building that was already built earlier. The new facilities would also give a new quality of life in Pljevlja", said Laković.

All planned buildings have a residential-business purpose with separate entrances. The ground floors of the buildings are intended for business and commercial use.

The mine has already requested the urban planning and technical conditions, and after receiving them, it will submit the documentation for the construction permit.

"There are no obstacles for that, so I hope that we will get all the necessary permits by the end of the year, and start the first works in the spring," said Laković.

Business-tourist complex, second project

He stated that the second project within the Pljevlja Recovery Plan is the construction of a business-tourist complex on part of the reclaimed mine, right next to the main road to Podgorica.

"Given that it is located on the main highway where there is a high frequency of tourists, especially in the summer months, who move from Serbia to the Montenegrin coast, that lot has a very attractive value and can be used for business purposes. I would like to point out that in addition to the recultivated part of the mine in that area, we will also have a new course of the Ćehotina river, according to the project that is urgent for us and that must be completed very quickly. Considering the above, this space is interesting for all people who want to invest, and I must point out that we have already spoken with potential investors who find this location extremely attractive", said Laković.

The business and tourist complex will cover several thousand square meters.

"The complex is planned for a location close to the border with Serbia, halfway from Belgrade to the coast, where about 800.000 vehicles pass during the season. With the first proposed variant, the project is realized in two phases, the first of 8.260 square meters and the second of 6.400 square meters, carefully planned to achieve maximum comfort and functionality for visitors. The first phase includes the construction of modern retail spaces, cafes and restaurants, while the second will bring additional facilities, such as a cinema, playrooms for children, a separate national kitchen facility on an area of 764 square meters and more parking spaces, i.e. a total of 523 for cars and 9 for buses. The project would enable the creation of around 200 new jobs, making it important for the local community as well as for tourists. The center will be surrounded by green areas that will provide an oasis of peace and relaxation," said Laković.
