The joint efforts of the Ministries of Mining, Oil and Gas and Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue will, as announced, take all the necessary steps to provide the Government with comprehensive information on the status and problems of the former Nikšić bauxite mine workers as soon as possible.
The Minister of Mining, Oil and Gas, Admir Šahmanović, said at a meeting with the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, Naida Nišić and representatives of the former workers of the Bauxite Mine, that, after two unsuccessful public calls for the sale of bankruptcy assets, the legal possibilities have been exhausted.
"Now it is up to the two ministries, in cooperation with the competent institutions, to devote themselves to solving this long-standing problem. "The formation of an interdepartmental working group will enable closer communication with the bankruptcy administrator and representatives of former employees, so that the Government will receive a detailed analysis of the situation," Šahmanović said.
He stated that the inherited situation is not simple and has been burdening former workers for a long time, but that he believes that, as before, correct communication and cooperation will lead to a solution.
"Workers have suffered a lot of damage and deserve support in exercising their rights," Šahmanović believes.
The representative of the former employees of the bauxite mine, Milorad Đurović, stated that they are satisfied and welcome the engagement and commitment shown by Šahmanović through previous meetings, but also that today's conversation with Nišić gives a certain amount of optimism that the solution to this long-standing problem is approached very responsibly.
Nišić said that she will personally advocate together with Šahmanović to solve the accumulated problems of the workers.
She added that one of the priorities during the mandate of the Government and the Ministry headed by her is to solve the outstanding problems of all workers and that they have the support of all members of the executive power in this.
"The government remains committed to solving inherited problems and protecting workers' rights as one of the foundations of social justice," the announcement concludes.
