Babović: ŽPCG workers will consider the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, the conversation was difficult

"Both on one side and on the other, there was a will to overcome the problem and to simply continue rail transport, to function as it was. We made a joint announcement, but at this moment I cannot tell you what the proposals are, what the agreements are, while we don't agree on that with the employees," Miroslav Babović said on behalf of the Unified Trade Union ŽPCG

I cannot present the conclusions from the meeting at the Ministry of Transport until I see with the train drivers and car inspectors of the Railway Transport (ŽPCG), whether the conditions are acceptable for them or not.

This was said by Miroslav Babović in front of the Unified Trade Union ŽPCG, after a conversation with the Minister of Transport, Maja Vukićević.

He explained that they asked Vukićević to cancel the dismissals given to three colleagues from the ŽPCG, to withdraw the annexes to the employment contract and to comply with the law, i.e. to allow them not to sign the contracts, and, as he says, they also asked for higher salaries.

"We had a constructive conversation, difficult and long, over three hours. On both sides there was a will to overcome the problem and to simply continue to operate the railway transport as it was. We made a joint statement with the ministry, but you at this moment, I cannot say what the proposals are, what the agreements are, until we agree with the employees. Whether the conditions are acceptable or not," said Babović.

He stated that after that he would inform the department and continue the talks if necessary.

The annexes to the employment contract were offered after the Department of Transport sent an inspection to ŽPCG, which determined that their workers were doing the same jobs in parallel in that and other companies. Amendments to the contract would prohibit this.

So far, three workers have lost their jobs due to not signing these annexes, and the deadline for signing has expired for another 43 train drivers and car inspectors, who believe they will be fired.

At the press conference yesterday, the workers pointed out that they want the withdrawal of the annex and the annulment of the dismissal, because otherwise they will demand the resignation of the executive director of ŽPCG Dragana Lukšić and the Board of Directors. Train traffic has been at a standstill for days, and Lukšić said the day before yesterday that the problems were caused by workers who remove trains from the tracks due to minor defects and demand higher wages.

The workers have repeatedly denied claims that they are behind the obstructions in the railway.

The Ministry of Transport announced that Minister Maja Vukićević and her colleagues held a meeting with the representatives of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro and the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro with the aim of finding a solution for the establishment of regular passenger rail transport as soon as possible.

""The meeting was constructive, and the parties agreed that by joint action it is necessary to define further steps in order to carry out regular transport, especially bearing in mind that it is a service of public interest, and that the Ministry of Transport and Railway Transport must react further with the aim of normalizing regular railway lines, while taking into account the safety of railway traffic and the protection of passengers, as well as the Railway Transport of Montenegro, a state-owned company", said the Ministry of Transport.
