The company Bemax denied the allegations of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro (USSCG) that it does not respect workers' rights, and rejected the accusations brought against them.
The USSCG sent the Labor Inspection at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue a request for inspection in that company, stating that the workers of Bemax DOO Montenegro (formerly Genex.CG) informed them about the massive violation of the basic rights of employees in that company.
Bemax stated that the facts they point to "confirm the continuous and extraordinary treatment of employees".
"In the 18 years of our existence, as a stimulus, we have distributed over 100 apartments to our employees, and we plan to continue this practice. Our workers enjoy earnings that are far above the Ernogorsk average. We will just note that the average net salary in Bemax for November 2024 is was 1.597 euros. In addition, we demonstrate a high degree of social responsibility through the policy of paying wages to employees on sick leave, in contrast to the legal minimum of 70 percent, "Bemax pays 100 percent of earnings during several months of leave, and even when they last up to six months," the denial reads.
They add that 99 percent of their employees have contracts for an indefinite period, and that only one employee has a contract for a fixed period.
"Regardless of reimbursement from the state, we pay pregnant women and women in labor increased wages in accordance with the principles of the Europe Now 2 (ES2) program, which we want to further support them and their families. At the same time, Bemax was a strong supporter of both the first and second Europe programs now, because we believe that returning wages to workers is the best way to strengthen the economy".
Bemax also states that they are ready to hand over all the necessary documentation to the competent authorities.
"All inspections are welcome to come for inspection, especially regarding overtime hours, vacations, paid holiday hours, because in our company workers' rights are respected far above legal standards. We believe that illegal anonymous reports, without concrete evidence or verified information, damage the reputation of our company. companies and the integrity of all employees. We invite Mr. Keković and the Union of Free Trade Unions to, if they have specific information about any irregularities, report them to the competent inspectors and follow their findings speculations, Mr. Keković should show responsibility and professionalism in performing his duty. Because it is not correct to announce the invitation to inspections in the media, before the inspection supervision.
Bemax says that "anonymous reports, unverified allegations and blanket accusations cannot and will not discourage them from continuing to invest in their workers and improve their working conditions".
"We call on all competent institutions to follow up on our work and draw their conclusions based on evidence, not rumours," he wrote in the response.
