Through joint cooperation, we will achieve the results that everyone expects, and they relate to the rapid implementation of infrastructure projects, Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević announced at a meeting with the coordinator of the European Commission for the Western Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean Corridor, Marjan-Zhan Marinescu.
The meeting was an opportunity for Vukićević and his colleagues to meet with the coordinator of the European Commission and to exchange information in a direct conversation about domestic projects, with different degrees of maturity, in the field of railway traffic and road infrastructure, as well as many others.
She spoke about planned, ongoing and recently completed transport projects in the country.
"When we talk about priorities, among domestic projects, of course, first of all, I have to present information about the status of the Bar-Boljare highway project, that is, about the second phase of this project, the Mateševo-Andrijevica section. The project was supported by the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)", stated Vukićević.
She added that, in addition to the financial support for this project, Montenegro has, in the previous period, provided significant financial resources for certain, also very important, projects in the field of railway transport.
Investing in the rehabilitation of the railway line is only one of the activities related to the modernization of the railway, while by investing in the infrastructure capacities of the Port of Bar and in the railway network that represents the hinterland of the port, we expect long-term achievable, positive effects for Montenegro and for the countries connecting to our railway.
Vukićević highlighted the priorities when it comes to the construction and modernization of road and railway infrastructure.
The interlocutors discussed possible sources of funding for future projects.
Marineska was invited by Vukićević to host the Workshop, which will be held in Brussels at the beginning of next year, and where the possibilities and modalities of cooperation with Montenegro will be presented to European companies in the part related to the implementation of started and future infrastructure projects.
