Elektroprivreda (EPCG) should by the end of the year announce a public call for the procurement of 300 megawatt hours (MWh) of battery systems, which represent one of the key factors in the realization of the green transition, announced the president of the Board of Directors of that company, Milutin Đukanović.
He said at the international professional conference entitled New era of energy: Where are the regional power companies today - plans for the future, which started today organized by the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, that the business philosophy of EPCG is implemented through established principles.
"The first principle is 'produce where you spend', where we entered the development of solar energy production through the Solari projects, which have already shown their profitability. Another principle we adhere to is to connect and use the hydro-energy structure for the connection of solar energy potentials," Đukanović pointed out.
He added that EPCG is already working hard on the implementation of the third principle, which is the development of battery systems.
Đukanović also announced that EPCG is heavily involved in projects that contribute to the development of green energy, and in their implementation receives full support from the state of Montenegro.
Đukanović participated in the first panel of the conference, which brought together numerous energy experts from the Western Balkans.
According to him, EPCG, in addition to numerous planned and started projects related to the production of solar energy, by the end of 2026 will strive to complete other large projects in the field of energy, such as the construction of the wind power plant (VE) Gvozd and the installation of the eighth unit in the hydroelectric power plant (HE) Peručica.
