At the beginning of next year, work will begin on the construction of the so-called zero phase of the city boulevard through Tivat, which is projected on the stretch from the airport to Seljanovo.

This was confirmed to "Vijesta" by the director of the Traffic Administration of Montenegro, Radomir Vuksanović.

"The Traffic Administration intends to announce a tender for the construction of the boulevard through Tivat, the so-called zero phase, by the end of this year. Specifically, it is about the section from the completion of the new Tivat-Jaz boulevard near the airport to the roundabout in Gradiošnica," said Vuksanovć.

The boulevard through Tivat, i.e. the reconstruction of the existing route of the Jadranska magistrala through that city on the stretch from Kukuljina to Bokeljska Street in Seljanova, in a length of less than three kilometers, is one of the most important projects for improving the traffic infrastructure in that city.

The former DPS-led city government of Tivat in 2019, during whose mandate this road was designed, managed to build only three roundabouts of the intersection on Seljanova, near the old Municipality building and in Kukuljina. From then until today, nothing concrete has been done on the ground because, among other things, it turned out that the project documentation for the reconstruction of the highway through the city into a boulevard is problematic and deficient because the designer did not foresee a channel to be drawn through the route of the boulevard, the city badly needs new electrical infrastructure.

Therefore, the Municipality is currently amending the project documentation in accordance with the requirements of CEDIS, which needs a corridor to route new power cables to consumers in the city center. In the meantime, the current government of Tivat has reached an agreement with the Government that the state will finance the construction of the boulevard and include it in capital projects of national importance. The state did it and according to its estimate, the construction of the Tivat boulevard will cost 18 million euros.

For the "Reconstruction of road M-11, Lepetane-Tivat-Krtoljska intersection, section Donja Lastva-Tivat Airport", as this project is officially called in the state administration, in the budget of the Traffic Administration for this year, a sum of 454.790 euros was allocated, but by the end of the third quarter, there was no expenditure of these funds. According to Vuksanović, that should change soon, as a tender for the selection of contractors for the zero phase is expected to be announced by the end of the year.

The director of the Traffic Administration for "Vijesta" could not give a precise answer to the question of the total cost of expropriation of private land and buildings near the current highway, which must be demolished in order to build the boulevard from Kukuljina to Seljanovo. Those costs will certainly not be small, because in order to "pass through" the road whose corridor has a total width of 19 meters, it will certainly be necessary to demolish many buildings, especially on the stretch through Kalimanj.

"Currently, the Cadastre Administration is updating the assessment of the value of the expropriation, which was done earlier, and after completion, the estimated amount of costs for that purpose will be known," said Vuksanović.
