Dubrovnik and Kotor will be connected by sea from June to the end of September next year, as another shipping route is being established, which will be managed by the Croatian company "Kompas". The price of a one-way ticket will be from 40 to 50 euros, while a return ticket will most likely cost 59 euros.
This was officially told to "Vijesta" by the company "Kompas".
The sailing of the ship "Antonija" on this section takes about three hours and will be carried out twice a week. A catamaran (double-hulled boat) with 242 seats will depart from Dubrovnik to Kotor on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and return in the other direction in the evening. This means that the main goal of this line, apart from connecting cities and transport, is organizing one-day trips to Kotor.
This line differs from the already existing seasonal line between Dubrovnik and Budva, which ran twice a day in both directions. "Kompas" opened that line on June 29 this year and it lasted until the end of September.
"A morning departure from Dubrovnik and an afternoon departure from Kotor enable a full-day excursion from Dubrovnik to Kotor. During the sailing through the Bay of Kotor, passengers will be able to enjoy the panoramic view from the open deck, and the stay in Kotor of about five hours allows visiting numerous attractions, apart from the city center itself, e.g. Lovćen or Tvrđave St. cable cars. Ivan. The line is active in the season from June 2 to September 30, 2025. In addition to daily round-trip tickets, one-way tickets for transit passengers are also offered," emphasized Kompas.
The company clarified that the ticket prices between Budva and Dubrovnik remain the same, that is, one way will cost 55 euros, while the return ticket will cost 69 euros. "Kompas" will start traffic between these cities in 2025 on June 5, and it is planned that four trips a week will be held until the end of September.
The sailing on this section lasts about two hours, and it is planned that the passengers will get about seven hours of stay in these cities.
The process of connecting Dubrovnik and Kotor, as the Ministry of Maritime Affairs told "Vijesta", began at the initiative of a Croatian company that contacted the "Port of Kotor". This department clarified that the ships will dock on the main operational coast of the port of Kotor within the International Border Crossing, that no work is needed on the adaptation of the pier to accommodate catamarans, and that all prerequisites for the start of operation of this line have been met.
"The premises of the Customs Administration are already located in the building of the Port Terminal of the Port of Kotor and are equipped with the necessary equipment for passenger and baggage control. In addition to a significant contribution to the development of tourism and the strengthening of economic relations between the two countries, these lines will facilitate travel for local residents and tourists, reducing the pressure on road traffic and thus contributing to the preservation of the environment. The potential of the Budva - Dubrovnik line has been recognized as a key element in promoting maritime tourism in the region. In addition, the line represented an important alternative to road traffic, providing significant relief, especially during the tourist season when road congestion is common. The line ran six times a week. During the summer season, it became very successful and transported a large number of tourists between two popular tourist centers, contributing not only to the local economy, but also to creating a better tourist experience for visitors to both cities," said the department he manages. Filip Radulović.
"News" was part of this year's first ride of "Antonija", from Budva to Dubrovnik. The journey took about two hours, after which passengers disembark in the local port of Gruž and pass the customs terminal. Since Gruž is about two kilometers from the Old Town, you can catch a city bus in front of the terminal, which then takes you to the center of Dubrovnik.
Driving to the city gate of Pila in ideal conditions takes less than ten minutes, but conditions during the summer tourist season are rarely ideal due to congested one-way streets and a large number of tourists and cars - so you can spend half an hour in queues.
There is no exit to the deck
The catamaran "Antonija" can accommodate 242 passengers, and it is 32 meters long, pointed out from the company "Kompas".
The ship is 9,5 meters wide, and its speed is up to 30 knots, or about 56 kilometers per hour.
In addition, during the trip Budva - Dubrovnik attended by "Vijesti", due to the speed in the open sea and the rocking of the ship, passengers were not allowed to go out on deck during the trip, so the view had to be enjoyed through the ship's windows.
"Kompas" is an international travel company that started its work in 1951. Since 1991, it has been operating as a joint-stock company with a total of 16 companies, and they are engaged in travel throughout Europe, especially in Croatia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary...
