The Montenegrin Tenants' Association will hold a meeting today with representatives of the Capital City Property Directorate, with the aim, as they said, of obtaining answers to key questions regarding social housing and the position of tenant families.

Three key questions will be asked at the meeting, including whether it is possible to gain insight into the list of social housing beneficiaries, in accordance with the law on transparency and data protection.

Representatives of the Tenants' Association are also interested in whether there is a possibility of updating the criteria for allocating social apartments, in order to better reflect the real needs of citizens, especially tenant families.

They will also ask whether the Capital City is planning new social housing projects and how non-governmental organizations, such as their Association, can actively participate in these processes.

The Tenants' Association said that social housing is of essential importance for many families in Montenegro, and that their goal is to contribute to a fairer distribution of social housing and help families facing high housing costs.

"Also, the Tenants' Association would like to emphasize that, in addition to the Capital, it will request the same information from other municipalities throughout Montenegro. Our goal is to ensure equal access to transparent and fair processes in all local communities," the statement said.

They said they expect an invitation to a meeting with the Capital City Secretariat for Social Welfare, because, as they emphasized, they can no longer rely on a slow and dishonest administration.

"As a non-governmental organization, we want to actively participate in processes related to social housing and monitor these processes on behalf of all tenants, in order to ensure accountability, transparency and fairness towards those who need help the most," the statement added.

The Tenants' Association, as they concluded, remains committed to fighting for the rights of tenants, with the aim of ensuring better housing conditions for all citizens of Montenegro.
