The number of tourists from the United States (US) is growing in Montenegro, but there is room for further progress, as well as for increasing direct investments from those areas, said Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić.

Kordić, as announced by the Ministry of Tourism, met with the Commissioner for International Relations from the Office of the Mayor of New York, Eduard Mermelstein.

She reminded that the number of tourists from the USA is growing, but that there is room for further progress as well as for increasing direct investments from this region.

As she said, Montenegro is small, but it has a lot to offer.

Kordić added that Montenegro is also benefiting from changes in the preferences of tourists, who are looking for authentic experiences.

Mermelstein recalled that New York is home to the largest diplomatic community in the world, very often a diaspora, which creates bridges for cooperation and improving relations in the areas of business and tourism.

"This administration is strengthening relationships with all destinations, which is important for the development of tourism in New York but also for the development of our partnership relations. This cooperation is always two-way, and brings benefits to both parties," said Mermelstein.

The Ministry said that the meeting also discussed linking the region's tourism offer and the possibilities of joint marketing in New York.

"In the meantime, it was agreed to exchange best practices and mutually promote significant activities both in Montenegro and New York," the statement said.

It is stated that Kordić also introduced her interlocutors to the potential of northern Montenegro, whose rapid establishment on the tourist map of our region opens up attractive opportunities for investing in tourism and service industries in this area.
