Works on the ecological reconstruction of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and the city heating project are progressing according to the defined schedule.
This was assessed by the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), after the company's executive director Ivan Bulatović and his associates toured the works yesterday.
The ecological reconstruction of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant is one of the most important projects in the Montenegrin energy sector, aimed at modernizing the plant and harmonizing it with modern environmental standards.
A significant reduction in harmful gas emissions and an increase in energy efficiency are expected. In parallel with these works, the Pljevlja district heating project will bring environmentally friendly and reliable heating to the citizens.
Bulatović said that the works are entering the final and most complex phase.
"Progress on the ground shows that EPCG is meeting its strategic goals in the field of energy transition and environmental protection. With good organization and a professional team, we are confident in the successful implementation of all planned phases. The works are now entering the final and, at the same time, the most complex phase, which requires a long-term shutdown of the TPP, lasting eight months," said Bulatović.
Project manager Bojan Đordan is satisfied with the dynamics of the work so far.
"We are satisfied with the pace of implementation. Key infrastructure segments are at an advanced stage, and we are taking the final steps towards the modernization of this thermal power complex," said Đordan.
The head of the Pljevlja TPP, Mirko Mazalica, claims that the reconstruction of the thermal power plant will ensure its long-term sustainability and contribute to the stability of the energy system of Montenegro.
The EPCG management also visited the Pljevlja Coal Mine, where they were informed in detail about the current activities and plans for 2025, with a special focus on the Ćehotina relocation project. The common view is that this project, despite numerous challenges, will be completed successfully, to the benefit of both the EPCG Group and the state of Montenegro. The Executive Director of RUP Nemanja Laković, the statement added, said that the Pljevlja-based company is a reliable segment of the EPCG Group, and that their plans for the coming period guarantee continuity in implementation and further development of the company.
"Elektroprivreda Crne Gore remains committed to improving energy infrastructure and protecting the environment, with a responsible approach to projects of strategic importance. It is expected that the planned works, while successfully overcoming all business challenges, will be completed within the planned deadline, bringing long-term benefits to citizens and the economy," EPCG said in a statement.
