Members of the Social Council today unanimously supported the amendments to the Labor Law, which represent an important step towards further harmonization of labor legislation with EU standards.

The Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue, Naida Nišić, presented at the session the amendments to the Labor Law, which represent an important step towards further harmonization of Montenegrin labor legislation with the EU acquis and international labor standards.

Nišić said that the proposed amendments to the Labor Law are one of the benchmarks for closing Chapter 19 - Social Policy and Employment, which will significantly contribute to the continuation of Montenegro's European integration.

"The law in question will implement the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the balance between private and professional life of parents and carers, as well as the Directive on transparent and predictable working conditions in the EU. The law will also be harmonized with the Framework Agreement on Telework from 2001 and the Law on Same-Sex Life Partnerships, with the aim of exercising rights arising from employment relationships," Nišić stated.

The Ministry announced that one of the key goals of the reform is to improve working conditions by achieving a better balance between the private and professional lives of working parents and caregivers, increasing the transparency and predictability of employment relationships, as well as more flexible work arrangements, especially through the possibility of working outside the employer's premises.

"These changes contribute to the modernization of labor legislation and the improvement of working conditions in line with modern European standards, which will have a positive impact on both employees and employers," said Nišić.

The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue continues, as they said, continuous dialogue with social partners and all relevant stakeholders in order to ensure quality implementation of new legal solutions and improve working conditions in Montenegro.
