MPs in the Parliament adopted the budget for this year, as well as the decision on borrowing.
The opposition did not attend the parliamentary session, as previously reported by "Vijesti".
The most important economic act was supported by 46 MPs, one abstained, while there were no votes against. 54 amendments were also submitted to the budget, from the Government, the Social Democrats, the Civic Movement URA, the Special Club of MPs, the Legislative Committee...
No green light for the opposition
Radinka Ćinćur, a member of the Special Club of Deputies, stated that they had submitted two amendments, the first of which relates to the deletion of the budget article regarding the purchase of an aircraft for the Government in the amount of up to 25 million euros, because that money could be used to establish an SOS line. She explained that the second amendment relates to the reconstruction of a street in Pavino Polje, Bijelo Polje.
These amendments did not receive the green light from the deputies.
The 19 amendments of the Civic Movement URA were not adopted, as were the three submitted by the Special Club MP Vladimir Dobricanin. The same was true of some of the Social Democrats' amendments.
MP Maja Vučelić of the Citizens' Alliance "CIVIS" withdrew her amendment and submitted a conclusion requesting guarantees that the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption will be paid money from the budget for its smooth functioning. She withdrew the amendment because there was no will in the parliamentary majority to redirect the money allocated for MPs' advisors to the fight against corruption.
The MPs supported this conclusion, as well as those of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, including 14 amendments by the Government. They also voted on the proposal of the Legislative Committee that the decision on borrowing enter into force on the day of publication in the Official Gazette, due to urgency, which was accepted.
Amendments to the Law on Budget and Fiscal Responsibility were also given the green light.
"A budget that strengthens the standard of living of citizens"
Minister of Finance Novica Vuković recalled that the budget should have been adopted in December last year, that the entire work of the Government was unfoundedly criticized, as well as claims that temporary financing is normal, not an extraordinary circumstance.
"There has been speculation about public debt and big words, and we are absolutely talking about something that is not true. We have a situation in 2024, going back to 2011, we have deficit movements of minus six to 10 percent, and now we are talking about a 3,2 percent deficit, which is within the plan. We have achieved stability in financing revenues and we do not depend on one-off revenues. We are talking about a public debt that is at the level of 60-62 percent of GDP, this is a budget that strengthens the standard of citizens and creates the conditions for the good result to continue in 2025," he said, repeating that the borrowings will be used to repay debts and capital projects.
Vuković expressed his gratitude for the Assembly continuing its work.
The Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget today gave the green light to all amendments submitted by the Government to this year's budget, while those submitted by the opposition were not voted on because they did not attend the session.
