Montenegro and Romania are interested in greater tourist exchange, but this requires the introduction of direct flights between the two countries, it was assessed at a meeting between Tourism Minister Sinonida Kordić and Romanian Ambassador Viorel Ardeleanu.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that Kordić suggested discussing this possibility with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and the Airport of Montenegro, adding that similar initiatives have proven successful.
The meeting concluded that greater promotion of Montenegro's potential on the Romanian market is necessary.
Kordić said that she was satisfied with the cooperation so far, emphasizing that there is room for its improvement, which requires closer communication between tourism industries.
"Montenegro and Romania have traditionally had good relations, with no open issues. We are also very grateful for your support on our European path. We hope that Montenegro will become a member of the EU in 2028, which will also affect our place on the world tourism map," said Kordić.
She also said that all of this forms a good basis for further strengthening relations in the field of tourism.
Ardeleanu confirmed his support for Montenegro and invited Kordić to pay an official visit to Romania, when the opportunity arises.
He believes that the potential that lies in religious tourism should be better utilized, because there are already groups of tourists from Romania who come to visit the Ostrog Monastery.
