Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić met with the Consul General of Kazakhstan in Podgorica, Gabiden Temirbek.
Kordić said on that occasion that cooperation between the two countries is good, but that there is plenty of room for improvement.
"The Ministry of Tourism is very interested in developing and expanding cooperation with new or relatively new markets. In that sense, cooperation with Kazakhstan is also extremely important to us, and issues related to air connectivity and the visa regime are in particular focus, which we are resolving in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," said Kordić.
Temirbek stated that Montenegro is the most attractive destination among the citizens of Kazakhstan, which is why they opened a diplomatic mission in Podgorica.
"There is great interest among our citizens to vacation in Montenegro. That is why it is important for us to have information about the possibility of a visa-free regime, and we are also interested in signing a memorandum of cooperation between the ministries responsible for tourism, and then student exchange in the summer period for the purpose of additional education in this area," Temirbek emphasized.
Kordić informed him that she had already insisted that a position on visa policy be adopted as soon as possible, and that she expected the MFA, in cooperation with Brussels, to find a solution that would be in line with EU standards, but that would not undermine our position on the market.
She also stated that she strongly advocates for finding a permanent solution to the challenge that recurs year after year, and in that regard, for the introduction of an electronic visa system.
There was also discussion of investment opportunities, where there is interest from the Kazakhstani business community.
