Beneficiaries of proportional pensions can submit a request for payment of the difference to the minimum pension amount in Montenegro next month or another month, if they do not collect the necessary documentation by the end of February, the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO) announced.
"If beneficiaries of proportional pensions who are entitled to payment of the difference do not submit a request with the necessary documentation by the end of February, they can do so next month or another month, while the payment of the difference is due to them on the first day of the month following the submission of the request," the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund told Mina-business.
They added that beneficiaries of proportional pensions who submit a request with the necessary documentation by the end of the month will have the difference paid starting March 1st, with the March pension being paid on April 20th.
"The new provision of the Pension and Disability Insurance Act stipulates that an insured person who has acquired the right to a proportional pension, residing in Montenegro, is entitled to the difference to the lowest pension amount, if the pension amount determined under this law and the foreign pension calculated according to the applicable exchange rate is less than the minimum pension in Montenegro," the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund announced.
They also reminded that the provision of the law, which prescribes the conditions for paying beneficiaries of proportional pensions the difference up to the amount of the minimum pension, came into force on February 10 and is not time-limited.
The Pension and Disability Insurance Fund reminded that the request should be submitted to the competent regional units of the fund and the Department for the Implementation of Foreign Insurance. Beneficiaries of proportional pensions should submit a copy of their ID card, proof of residence and a confirmation or certificate from the foreign insurance carrier about the last pension paid.
"If a pension beneficiary receives a pension from multiple countries, they need to submit a certificate from each of them," the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund explained.
Beneficiaries should submit a copy of the decision on recognition of the right to a pension with a foreign insurance carrier along with the request.
"If the beneficiary receives a pension from multiple countries, they need to submit a copy of the decision from each of them," the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund said.
Along with the request, beneficiaries must also submit a statement certified by a notary or a competent court, committing to report changes in the amounts of foreign pensions, if any.
"In order to prevent abuse, beneficiaries will submit a statement stating that, under full material and criminal liability, they will report changes in the amounts of their foreign pension(s) within 15 days of the change occurring, as well as any change that affects the right or scope of use of that right," the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund said.
They added that immediately after the entry into force of the adopted amendments to the Pension and Disability Insurance Act, the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund provided all necessary information on its website regarding the application of the legal provision relating to the payment of the difference.
"The Pension and Disability Insurance Fund has provided all necessary information regarding the implementation of the aforementioned legal solution. If there are any ambiguities, parties can contact the competent regional units of the Fund and the Department for the Implementation of Foreign Insurance in order to obtain all additional information," the Fund stated.
