Monteput has selected the bid of the Podgorica-based company "Put inženjering" worth 192.390 euros as the most favorable in the tender for the development of a conceptual design for the Nikšić - Žabljak - Pljevlja expressway. According to the tender documentation on the Montenegrin Electronic Public Procurement (CeJN) website, the tender was announced on December 24th last year and lasted until January 27th, while its estimated value was 205.000 euros.

Monteput rejected the joint bid from the companies "Decom Group" and "Louis Berger" in the tender, after they assessed it as incorrect. They determined that the contract on joint action between these companies did not specify who would work on the conceptual design for the bridges on this section.

According to the project, the goal of this documentation is to thoroughly examine alternative solutions and define the optimal corridor for this expressway, while the deadline for its construction will be half a year from the date of signing the contract. The planned speed of vehicles is 100 kilometers per hour, and it is stated that lower speeds are possible depending on the terrain.

"The planned expressway crosses the Komarnica Canyon, so it is necessary to consider alternative solutions for a more favorable crossing of the canyon, both from the aspect of rational technical solutions and from the aspect of preserving the Nevidio Canyon. Special attention should be paid to crossing the Tara Canyon and the Durmitor National Park. This highway will provide a connection between Nikšić, Žabljak and Pljevlja with the Bar-Boljare highway and the Adriatic-Ionian highway," the documentation states.

It is emphasized that technical documentation has not previously been prepared to treat this section as a high-speed road, so alternative solutions should be developed for the stretch from Nikšić to Pljevlja, which should serve as the basis for the final determination and definition of a more precise position of the high-speed road corridor in the Proposal for the Spatial Plan of Montenegro until 2040.

The goal is for this expressway to provide a better connection between the touristic Žabljak and the industrial Pljevlja with the rest of Montenegro.
