Citizens of Bijedići, Srđevac, Lozna and Pod in Bijelo Polje, where quarries will be built, reported to the Police Department today a large environmental protest on Sunday, February 23rd at noon in the village of Ribarevine in Bijelo Polje.
Outraged by the construction of the quarry, locals will block the main roads towards Bijelo Polje, Berane, and Podgorica that day.
The organizing committee invited all citizens of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, as well as other municipalities in northern Montenegro, NGOs, environmental activists, as well as citizens of Montenegro who have the same problems to join them that day.
"We expect to point out on Sunday all the other environmental problems faced by municipalities in northern Montenegro and that we must begin to preserve what is left, which is the natural wealth in this region, and by no means destroy it. That is why we expect this to be the most massive environmental protest in Montenegro so far," reads a press release signed by Iljaz Hasanagić on behalf of the protest's Organizing Committee.
