Montenegro has the potential for the development of active, health, rural and religious tourism, announced the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
At a meeting in Rome with the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Giulia Centemer, she said that the goal of the relevant ministry is to overcome seasonality and expand the offer to 365 days.
"During the meeting, it was emphasized that Montenegro has a certain level of tourist traffic from Italy, but also that good air connectivity is very important for increasing the number of tourists and strengthening economic cooperation," the Ministry said in a statement.
Centemero pointed out that Montenegro, as a safe country, could be interesting to investors and digital nomads.
He expressed PAM's willingness to support Montenegro's activities in tourism through some of its initiatives, such as empowering women and youth in this area.
"He also proposed participation in the Economic Forum, which brings together investors, financial institutions, and banks, which could be a great opportunity for our country to present its potential," the statement added.
Kordić also stated that Montenegro is expected to join the European Union (EU) in 2028-2030, and that work is being done to strengthen cooperation in that regard.
Kordić previously met with the Secretary General of PAM, Serđo Pjaci, in Podgorica, and on that occasion emphasized that Montenegro is very interested in cooperation with the countries of the Mediterranean region, and that it insists on strengthening regional relations in the field of tourism.
