The average salary without taxes and contributions in January, according to Monstat data, amounted to one thousand euros and was 0,8 percent lower than in December last year.
The average net salary in January increased by 22,6 percent compared to the same month last year.
The average gross salary in January in Montenegro was 1,2 thousand euros.
"If we take into account that consumer prices in January recorded an increase of 1,2 percent compared to December last year, it follows that real wages for the same period recorded a decrease of two percent," the statement said.
Average net earnings in January increased compared to the previous month in the following sectors: agriculture, forestry and fishing by 5,5 percent, transport and storage by 4,4 percent, health and social protection by 4,3 percent, construction by 3,3 percent, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1,2 percent, mining and quarrying by 0,7 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 0,6 percent, manufacturing and accommodation and food services by 0,1 percent each.
The decline in average earnings before taxes and contributions in January compared to the previous month was recorded in the following sectors: information and communication 11,6 percent, professional, scientific and technical activities 6,7 percent, water supply, wastewater management, process control, waste disposal and similar activities 5,8 percent.
A decline was also recorded in the areas of administrative and support service activities by 3,8 percent, state administration and defense: mandatory social security by 3,5 percent, financial activities and insurance activities by 2,8 percent, education by 1,5 percent, real estate activities by 0,7 percent, other service activities by 0,4 percent, and artistic entertainment and recreational activities by 0,3 percent.
