Montenegro plans to conduct a detailed analysis of the development potential of local governments and to direct resources to the valorization of these potentials, said the Minister of Regional Investment Development and Cooperation with NGOs, Ernad Suljević.

He pointed out that foreign investments play a key role in this process, as they contribute to economic growth, technological progress and employment.

Suljević and State Secretary Mirsada Bošnjak are on an official visit to Poland, on the occasion of the 10th European Congress of Local Governments, which is being held in Mikolajki.

The invitation to participate in the congress was sent by the non-governmental organization Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, which researches political, economic and social issues in the Eastern part of Europe, in partnership with the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

The ministry announced that Suljević spoke at the congress, which "gathered a large number of state officials," on working panels on two key topics: "The Role of Foreign Investment in Regional Development" and "Global Challenges - Local Solutions."

Speaking about the role of foreign investment, he said that the Ministry of Regional Investment Development and Cooperation with NGOs, although newly established, has great potential to contribute to regional development through cooperation with local communities. He emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment as a key factor for economic growth, technological progress and employment.

Suljević, at the panel "Global Challenges - Local Solutions", pointed out the importance of local community responses to global challenges such as economic problems, climate change and technological transformations. He said that globalization, although it offers numerous opportunities, also brings significant challenges that need to be overcome through innovative and concrete local solutions. He also emphasized that cooperation between national and local authorities is key to ensuring the efficient implementation of development policies on the ground, emphasizing that the formation of the Partnership Council for Regional Development enables better coordination and faster implementation of these policies.

The ministry stated in a statement that Suljević's visit is of particular importance for the improvement of bilateral and economic cooperation between Montenegro and Poland, which is "recognized as a friend" of our country, and that the relations between the two countries have been further strengthened through cooperation within the NATO alliance.

During his stay in Poland, Suljević will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland, Krzysztof Gavkowski, and with the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pelczynska.
