Work on replenishing the beach on Ada began this week and, depending on weather conditions, should be completed in 10 working days.
The executive director of "Ulcinj Riviera", within which the nudist resort on Ada operates, Armend Mila, told "Vijesti" that the measures being taken are crucial for preserving the beach and laying the foundation for its future development.
He said that the Government recently adopted information on the current situation and the need to implement short-term measures to revitalize the beach and build artificial dunes to prevent damage to the property of the "Ulcinj Riviera" caused by erosion on Ada Bojana.
"89 thousand euros have been provided - 26.500 have been allocated for the revitalization of the beach, while the rest is intended for the construction of artificial dunes in early October. For the project to rehabilitate sports fields, the value of which is 70 thousand euros, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, as previously agreed, will participate with 35 thousand euros, while we will bear half of that amount," Mila told "Vijesti".
The government recently tasked the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, in accordance with the Agreement on Business and Technical Cooperation from February this year, to engage the state-owned company "Zaštita prostora Crne Gore" and, as soon as possible, implement the project of building artificial embankments - dunes, as well as revitalizing the beach in order to replenish it, as a temporary seasonal measure to protect the beach on Ada Bojana, using funds from the budget of that ministry.
"The material (sand) deposited on Ada Bojana will be used for the works. The deadline for carrying out works on revitalizing the beach in order to replenish it is 10 working days, and the works must be started within 10 days from the date of adoption of the Information in question. The deadline for carrying out works on the construction of artificial embankments - dunes is 20 working days, and the works must be started after the end of the summer tourist season, in October 2025," the adopted Information states.
The Government has also tasked the Public Company for Maritime Zone Management to provide expert supervision during the execution of these works, and the Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the "Ulcinj Riviera", to provide accommodation and food to the workers of the "Protection of the Space of Montenegro" during the period of execution of the works.
Mila said that he was pleased to note the start of the project to replenish the beach on Ada and rehabilitate sports fields within the nudist settlement on that Ulcinj island.
"These activities are part of our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of our destination and improving services for all visitors. By investing in infrastructure and the environment, we want to create even better conditions for recreation and sports, which will further contribute to the development of tourism in this beautiful part of our country," said Mila.
Nudist resort gets new sports facilities
When it comes to investments in sports infrastructure, Mila stated that the settlement on Ada will receive two multifunctional hard courts and two clay tennis courts. He said that they owe a great deal of gratitude for this to the Minister of Sports Dragoslav Šćekić, whose ministry will allocate half of the necessary money for the implementation of the project.
"I am confident that these projects will improve the experience of our guests and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the beach and sports facilities," said Mila.
