The Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the National Tourism Organization (NTO), has defined incentive measures to help improve the tourism offer and diversify the tourism product, said Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić.

She said this at a session of the Coordination Body for the Preparation and Monitoring of Tourist Seasons.

The Ministry of Tourism announced that the program includes seven support measures, namely for organizing events, improving the quality of services in rural tourism, digitalization, support for the development of MICE tourism, for study visits by tour operators and travel agencies, destination promotion, and the improvement of organized air arrivals through a joint marketing campaign with tour operators.

As stated by that government department, funds for incentive measures are allocated through a public call.

The statement states that Kordić informed the members that the department she heads is working hard on preparing for the summer tourist season, which is why sessions of the Coordination Body are held every month, which has already led to certain results.

"Thus, at the previous session, the necessity was expressed to approve a temporary visa-free regime for tourists from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Uzbekistan and holders of valid foreign documents with a residence permit in the United Arab Emirates," the statement said.

It is stated that after that, at the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and with the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government made that decision on time and approved that visa regime from March to November.

The Ministry said that during the summer season, Montenegro will also improve air connectivity through the introduction of new routes by the airline Vueling, on the Barcelona-Tivat route three times a week.

"It has also been announced that Gulf Air will also operate, which will have connected rotations with the Bahrain/Athens destinations," the statement said.

The Ministry of Tourism stated that the importance of introducing transit taxes was also discussed.

"A working team consisting of representatives of several departments will soon be formed, tasked with analyzing all relevant laws and regulations with a focus on EU obligations, and determining the possibilities of introducing a transit tax on the Montenegrin coast, with the aim of reducing traffic congestion during the summer tourist season," the statement said.
