French investors are more than welcome, with the Montenegrin coast already established as an attractive destination, while the north of Montenegro is increasingly gaining importance, announced the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
She met with a delegation of French entrepreneurs, led by MEDEF International CEO Philippe Gautier, who are on an official visit to Montenegro.
Kordić, as announced by the Ministry, thanked for the interest and very good cooperation that MEDEF, as the most important employers' association in France, has with Montenegro.
Kordić stated that there are numerous areas for improving relations, recalling that this was also discussed at the meeting in Paris last year.
She reiterated the Government's commitment to Montenegro becoming a member of the European Union as soon as possible, and in that regard, thanked France for its support on that path.
Kordić added that tourism is the most important economic sector in Montenegro, generating a third of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Kordić particularly pointed out the wealth of untouched nature and authentic gastronomy, which make this region ideal for the development of sustainable tourism projects.
"With built trust, strengthened bilateral relations, and support for our integration processes, it is necessary to improve investments in tourism. As you know, there are already positive experiences of French brands present in Montenegro, which is why I will be happy to see a greater number of French tourists and new investments," said Kordić.
MEDEF said that they recognize the great potential of Montenegro, and that they are therefore interested in expanding cooperation.
They stated that in order to improve tourism, it is necessary to work on improving air connectivity and infrastructure, because our country, due to its size and geographical position, is suitable for weekend trips.
Kordić introduced the French entrepreneurs to the project of introducing transit taxes, and the benefits it would potentially bring, such as reducing congestion on the coast, especially during the peak summer season.
Also, flights to Montenegro from Paris, Nantes and Lyon have been announced this year.
