MP and President of the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) Mehmed Zenka confirmed that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, at yesterday's meeting, explained to the leaders of the Municipality and Assembly of Ulcinj, MPs from that city, and heads of parties and councilor clubs the intention of Arab investors to lease the entire Velika Plaža for 99 years - from Port Milena to the mouth of the Bojana River.
"That is absolutely unacceptable for us. We are not against investments, on the contrary, but Ulcinj is not for sale. Look, that is a whole century, how many generations is that, Ulcinj will not ask anything, some other people will ask. We explained to the Prime Minister that in the city's strategic plans, there are other locations for investments and investments, but not 20 million square meters of beaches and hinterland of Velika Plaza," Zenka told "Vijesti".
He stated that Spajić showed them a picture and explained that the contract with Arapaima for Velika Plaža would be very extensive and would have several hundred pages.
"We couldn't conclude anything based on one picture, which is the investor's conceptual plan. We know it's a big story, but that doesn't mean anything will come of it," said Zenka.
Asked if he thought it was a finished story, he replied in the negative.
"I don't believe there is anyone who would invest that much knowing that the local community is against it," said Zenka.
In the recently concluded tender of the Public Company for Coastal Zone Management (JP), the company "Eagle Hills Properties", backed by Arab capital, won the bid for nine mostly connected bathing areas on Velika Plaza in Ulcinj.
The founder of the famous company "Emaar Properties" and the president of the company "Eagle Hills Properties", Mohamed Alabar from the United Arab Emirates, as Spajić said at the meeting, is ready to give up on those beaches where the tenants are Montenegrin citizens, that is, residents of Ulcinj, or to sublease them to them so that they can manage those resources for the next four years.
