The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development (MERS) and the National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) have signed a contract covering financial and technical aspects, with the aim of preserving, protecting and enhancing natural values in national parks, as well as supporting the construction and maintenance of environmentally friendly infrastructure, the public company announced.
The contract was signed by the relevant Minister Damjan Ćulafić and the Director of the National Centre for the Protection of Montenegro, Marinela Đuretić.
Ćulafić said that the NPCG is facing a challenging financial situation, but that in the past few months "there have been visible moves towards stabilization." He added that it is important to ensure long-term financial sustainability so that the national parks can effectively manage and improve their work, the statement said.
"This year, for the first time, JPNPCG is signing a contract with MERS, which will enable these funds to be transferred in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with the law. This represents an important step towards strengthening financial sustainability and improving the protection of our national parks," said Ćulafić.
Marinela Đuretić expressed her satisfaction that the signing of the agreement with the relevant ministry will ensure the stabilization of the financial situation through the transfer of budget funds.
"This is an important step towards sustainability and further development, enabling us to continue our business and a prerequisite for improving the efficiency and quality of our services, and realizing our strategic goals. The management remains committed to continuous progress, responsible management and dedicated work, with the aim of achieving even better results and strengthening our role in the community," she said.
