The Government's goal is to ensure that the price of electricity remains stable in the coming period and that any changes do not burden citizens, said the Minister of Mining, Oil and Gas, Admir Šahmanović.

The Ministry announced that Šahmanović attended a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), where he discussed with management representatives, among other things, the measure of subsidizing electricity bills, which was introduced at the beginning of the year due to regulatory corrections.

He said that the continuation of this measure is in the interest of citizens and that the Government will continue to monitor the situation and respond in accordance with the needs of society.

"I propose that the continuation of subsidies be seriously considered, with a focus on the most vulnerable consumers, but also on all those for whom such support means preserving their standard of living. Our goal is for the price of electricity to remain stable in the coming period and for any changes not to be a burden on citizens. We will decide on this responsibly and in accordance with economic reality and the interests of households," said Šahmanović.

He reminded that the new Energy Law systematically addresses the issue of energy poverty for the first time, and introduces mechanisms that enable better institutional protection of the most vulnerable citizens.

Šahmanović underlined the importance of continuing key investments that are in line with the Green Agenda, especially in the areas of renewable energy sources, energy storage through battery systems, and the construction of the second strand of the submarine cable between Italy and Montenegro, which is a strategic project for the country's electricity system.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPCG, Milutin Đukanović, said that synergy with the Ministry enables faster and more efficient implementation of the company's strategic goals, while Executive Director Ivan Bulatović stated that all capital projects are implemented in the interest of the state and citizens.

Šahmanović said that the Ministry will continue to monitor the development policies of EPCG and provide full support in making decisions that are in line with the strategic goals of Montenegro's energy policy.
