The impressive results in Montenegro's fiscal and economic policy can be an incentive for Swiss investors, it was assessed at a meeting at the Ministry of Finance.
"Enviable results have been achieved in the area of economic and fiscal policy, which is why Switzerland needs to start significant projects in Montenegro and increase investments," said the country's non-resident ambassador, Anne Lugon-Moulin, in a conversation with the Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković.
The Ministry announced that during the first official meeting, it was stated that Montenegro and Switzerland cherish traditionally friendly relations, based on mutual understanding and support, as well as on democratic values.
The meeting was an opportunity to review joint projects and numerous Swiss companies operating in Montenegro.
Vuković announced that strengthening foreign investments is the focus of the Government, as evidenced by the preparation of the law on strategic investments, which will simplify procedures, make the investment environment more attractive, and valorize Montenegro's enormous potential.
"He particularly emphasized the potential of northern Montenegro, which he said should be developed according to the Swiss model, as one of the most competitive economies in the world," the statement said.
Lugon-Moulin stated that the experience of Switzerland, which is itself a tourist destination, has shown that it is very important to work on preserving the ecological identity, for which Montenegro is internationally recognized.
Vuković said that, although it relies on tourism, the Montenegrin economy will strengthen in the coming period by investing in other sectors. The emphasis, he said, will be on projects in infrastructure, energy and agriculture.
Pointing to the current policies implemented by the Ministry, he highlighted the expansion of the tax base and the reduction of the shadow economy as priorities, which Lugon-Moulin assessed as an additional incentive for investors.
"As one of the spheres where it is possible to further deepen partnership relations, the field of education was recognized, and the importance of the existence of the Swiss-Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce was emphasized, and the first working meeting was concluded in the expectation that the next one will be held soon in the context of new joint investment projects," the statement concluded.
