The Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, signed an agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with the aim of implementing the project Supporting the Transition to Tourism Industry 4.0 in Montenegro, launched through digital technologies.

The Ministry announced that this initiative stems from Montenegro's interest in shaping the tourism industry by applying best practices from Slovenia, which were developed as part of their successfully implemented Digital Innovation in Cultural Heritage (DICH) project.

"The project, which will last for the next two years, plans to apply digital technologies in the tourism and culture sector, which will significantly increase Montenegro's competitiveness on the global tourism scene, but also contribute to the protection and valorization of cultural heritage, the creation of new digital tourism experiences and the engagement of local communities in creating innovative products," the statement said.

During the signing of the contract, Kordić emphasized that together with UNIDO, as well as the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sports of Slovenia, they are opening the door to new opportunities for Montenegro.

"This project represents a key step in our efforts to improve the tourism industry through the application of the latest digital technologies. Through it, we will develop and implement innovations that will enable the attraction of new visitors, better branding of the destination, as well as increasing the competitiveness of Montenegrin tourism and cultural resources," said Kordić in Vienna.

She explained that Slovenia's donation of 300 thousand euros enables the realization of a strategically important goal, which is the long-term and sustainable development of tourism.

Through this project, the Montenegrin Ministry of Tourism, with the support of UNIDO and donors, wants to lay the foundations for sustainable tourism development, in line with the strategies of the European Union and the UN.

The project will be implemented by UNIDO, and is financed by the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sports and the Entrepreneurship Fund of Slovenia, and the entire amount is from a donation.
