The Municipality of Kolašin does not know whether a feasibility study is planned for the gondola construction project, which is one of the largest projects in recent decades and will cost 60 million euros.

In response to a councilor's question Balša Cvetkovića from the Movement Together We Build Kolašin (DPS, SD, SDP and non-party figures), Mayor of the Municipality Petko Bakić stated that the funds for this project were provided by the Government in the Budget Law for this year, and that the procedures are being implemented by the Capital Projects Administration.

"The funds for the project 'Construction of a gondola from Kolašin to the Kolašin 1600 Ski Center' were provided by the Government of Montenegro in the Budget Law for 2025, and all necessary procedures for the implementation of this project will be carried out by the Capital Projects Administration. Given this, we are not yet aware that a Feasibility Study will be conducted," Bakić wrote.

As the Vice President of the Municipality told "Vijesti" in September Vasilije Ivanovic, the local government has begun the process of developing technical documentation for a gondola project that would connect the city with the ski resorts on Bjelasica. The precise length of the future aerial route will be known after the conceptual design, but, as he explained at the time, it will certainly be more than 10 kilometers.

According to what he said at the time, the gondola would start in the suburban settlement of Breza, lead to the Railway Station, Smrčje, Ćirilovac, and end at the Kolašin ski resorts. Ivanovic had previously explained that the highest elevation of the cable car would be at almost 1.900 meters above sea level.

Ivanovic sees the justification for such a project in the possibility of creating conditions for Kolašin to have a 365-day tourist offer. In addition, he explains, it would relieve traffic on the road to the ski resorts, as that road is now part of the regional road from Kolašin to Berane, through the Klisura tunnel.

"If this project were to be realized, the gondola would be one of the most famous in this part of Europe. I hope that the government will recognize the importance of our idea. In addition to the practical benefits, the gondola would provide those who use it with a unique panoramic ride experience. From the Ključ Pass, you can see, so to speak, half of Montenegro," said Ivanović at the time.

He also explained that the implementation of this project will relieve traffic from the city to the ski resort. The gondola, as one of 17 infrastructure projects, is also planned for this year's local Spatial Planning and Urban Sanitation Programs. The document states that it will be built over several years.
