The reconstruction project of the M-2 highway, the section from Bijelo Polje to the Dobrakovo border crossing, worth 11 million euros excluding VAT and financed from a loan from the European Investment Bank, will begin at the end of the summer.
This was stated in a response to "News" from the Traffic Administration.
"For the reconstruction of this main road, 10,5 kilometers long, from the "Voli" supermarket to one kilometer before the Dobrakovo border crossing, the Traffic Administration last year announced a tender in accordance with the EIB procurement guide, and the company Bemax was selected as the contractor," the Traffic Administration told "Vijesti".
The works, among other things, include the reconstruction of the road, the construction of three new roundabouts, sidewalks and bus stops, as well as the construction of storm sewers.
The plan is to begin the reconstruction of the road at the end of the summer in order to avoid traffic jams on this road route, which is one of the main entrances/exits of the country. The deadline for completion of the works is 550 days from the introduction of the contractor into the job.
The Administration emphasizes that the reconstruction of the Bijelo Polje - Prijepolje road, as well as all regional and main roads, will contribute to improving traffic safety.
"Given that this is a transit route connecting two countries, improving the transport infrastructure will further accelerate the flow of people and goods," the Transport Administration said in a response, reminding that they are continuously working on projects to build and reconstruct main and regional roads, including the rehabilitation of bridges, tunnels and landslides, in order to improve infrastructure and traffic safety.
As part of a separate project, the rehabilitation of the M-2 main road, the Bijelo Polje - Barski Most section, below the city landfill (rehabilitation of the Dobrakovo landslide), is underway, starting on March 11th of last year.
"The deadline for completion of these works is September 11th of this year, but it is expected that the works will be completed before the start of the summer tourist season."
