The offer of the consortium "CIP-DB" worth 2.864.675 euros was selected as the most favorable in the tender announced by Monteput for the development of the preliminary design of the Bar - Boljare highway, or rather the Virpazar - Stari Bar subsection. This route is 26 kilometers long, will serve to reduce summer traffic congestion and provide access to industrial zones, and is planned from the interchange in the Virpazar zone to the interchange in Stari Bar.
This consortium consists of Belgrade's "Traffic Institute CIP" and "DB Engineering", as well as subcontractors Podgorica's "Sigurnost", "Geom max group", "Geoprojekt" and Tivat's "Lavian Engineering". The deadline for the development of the conceptual design is one year from the conclusion of the contract.
Monteput made this decision in early April, and according to the tender documentation, there is a possibility of appealing it until the middle of the month. The tender for this job lasted from December 23 to February 5, while its estimated value was 3.025.000 euros.
The consortiums "Institute for Civil Engineering" and "Construction Institute of Macedonia" were excluded from the tender, both because they did not meet all the conditions required by the tender.
The highway on that section is planned to be designed for a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, with four traffic lanes, each three and a half meters wide, and emergency lanes. The documentation emphasizes that the solutions should be consistent with those on the Smokovac - Mateševo section, so that there are no problems due to the construction of differently designed and incompatible systems...
"The implementation of the section from Virpazar to the southern portal of the Sozina tunnel in full profile and the continuation towards Stari Bar will enable the reduction of traffic congestion, especially in the summer months. Although it is a relatively short section, due to the fact that the second tube of the Sozina tunnel will be implemented within it, after its construction it will create conditions for better connectivity between the north and south of Montenegro. Through the development of the Preliminary Design for the Intersection of the Bar - Boljare Highway with the Adriatic - Ionian Highway and the Expressway and the Preliminary Design of the Sozina - Stari Bar Expressway, a plan for connections with the surrounding area has been defined. Interchanges are planned on this section of the highway: Virpazar - connection with the M-2 main road, Sozina - connection with the M-1.1 main road, an interchange in the Bar zone, as a connection with the city and port, an interchange in the Stari Bar zone," the project terms of reference state.
