The Council for Ensuring Secure Supply of Petroleum Products to the Market, chaired by Minister Admir Šahmanović, held its first session today, at which the dynamics of future activities were agreed upon, as well as operational steps aimed at strengthening the resilience of the supply system.

"At the first session, the members of the Council discussed work priorities, with a special focus on market monitoring and regularity of supply to Montenegro and EU and/or Energy Community members, as well as on maintaining mandatory reserves and developing a Crisis Plan," the Ministry of Mining, Oil and Gas said in a statement.

The Council was established in accordance with the Law on Security of Supply of Petroleum Products.

The Council plays a key role in monitoring the situation on the petroleum products market and proposing measures to the Government in order to prevent and resolve potential supply disruptions.

Through a comprehensive approach and cooperation between competent institutions and energy entities, the Council contributes to preserving the stability and security of market supply.

"The composition of the Council includes representatives of key institutions - from the competent state administration bodies for oil, hydrocarbons, finance and customs, the energy regulatory body, to representatives of energy entities with the largest share in wholesale and retail trade," the statement states.

This multidisciplinary structure of the Council enables efficient situation analysis and timely response in crisis circumstances.

"The Council was established for a period of four years, and its work represents an important segment of the country's overall energy security and resilience to possible disruptions in the supply of petroleum products," the statement concludes.
