A group of citizens trying to reclaim 7,65 thousand square meters of land from the state-owned "Plantaže" plans to block access to those plots in the Podgorica neighborhood of Gornja Gorica - if the company's management does not accept them for a conversation.
As Slavko Stojanović, who claims to be one of the owners of the land, told "Vijesti", they sent a letter with this request to the executive director of "Plantaža", Igor Čađenović, and the president of the Board of Directors, Nikola Tripković.
He made this announcement after citizens held a one-hour protest in front of the Parliament building.
"We sent a letter with a deadline of April 23rd, requesting a meeting. If they do not accept our request for an interview, we will enter the property and determine the days when we will allow access to the plots. I believe that will not happen, but we are ready to take those steps," said Stojanović.
Stojanović added that they had recently spoken with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Zdenko Popović and the Mayor of the Capital City, Saša Mujović. He reiterated that they had addressed everyone and that they wanted the sale of the land to be stopped and the same law as for the Ulcinj Valdanos Bay to be passed, i.e. that the land be returned or compensation paid. Stojanović also stated that disputes on this issue have been ongoing since the early 2000s.
The group claims that a state-owned company registered their land in Gornja Gorica and then sold it. The company "Plantaže" put this plot up for auction at the end of November last year, selling the land with a total area of 10,62 thousand square meters at the lowest price of 1.077.500 euros.
The citizens believe that they are the real owners of the plot and that it should not have been sold. They pointed out that the land has dozens of owners, that the state nationalized it and then returned it in 1994, after which it was registered to the state company in 2003.
The state-owned "Plantaž" previously stated that the property in question is not active, that it creates additional real estate tax costs for them and does not contribute to the company's strategic goals. They emphasized that there are no registered burdens or restrictions on this land and that the citizens' claims that the land is theirs are groundless.
