The President of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, said that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is pushing investors from the United Arab Emirates, and that they want the Bill on Ratifying the Agreement with that country to be withdrawn from the Assembly's agenda.
He said this after a meeting with Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić on the issue.
Nimanbegu stated that they requested that the agreement not be included on the agenda, but if it is included, that it not be voted on because it is contrary to the Constitution and laws.
"Especially since it is so mysterious and urgent, it calls into question what the interests are. I conveyed to the Speaker of the Assembly that he would have responsibility if it were included in the agenda and if a vote were taken. We received information from him that the parliamentary majority would decide on this and that this would be discussed at the collegium," he stressed.
He added that this situation is harmful to state interests in all of Montenegro, namely this type of allocation of territory and circumvention of the law, and that the question is whether Montenegro wants a state governed by the rule of law.
"We sent a message that MPs have a special responsibility for what they vote for. They cannot hide behind the decisions of the parties, the majority or the Government. This is being pushed by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and I am sure that what he is doing is harmful to the state. I have told him in several meetings that it is harmful, but it seems that the man does not understand his constitutional role. He is not here to protect the interests of investors," he said, adding that speed is harmful to everyone's interests and that this is not how it is done.
