Yesterday, the government gave its consent for the Public Company for the Management of National Parks (NP) to manage the bankrupt Ulcinj Saltworks for the next six months.
Information was adopted at the session stating that the lease agreement expired on February 7th of this year.
NP has been managing this Ulcinj-based company since mid-2015.
"Based on the accepted offer and the agreement on the terms, on 24. 08. 2015. a Lease Agreement was concluded with the bankruptcy administrator, which, among other things, defined the amount of the one-year lease in the amount of 2.400 euros. On 24. 06. 2019. the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly adopted the Decision on the Proclamation of the Nature Park "Ulcinjska Solana", which, in accordance with Article 7 thereof, defined that the NP is designated as the manager until 24. 08. 2020 at the latest, by which time the Municipality of Ulcinj will establish a company to which it will entrust the management. Given that the manager of the Nature Park has not yet been formed, which is being intensively worked on by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, the Ministry of Finance and the Municipality of Ulcinj, the NP continues to perform the duties of the manager," the Government's information states.
As stated, the Lease Agreement represents the legal basis for engaging 21 former employees of the Saltworks in the implementation of planned activities and preservation of the Saltworks' natural values.
When it comes to forming a company that would manage the Saltworks, "Vijesti" previously announced that the Government and the Municipality of Ulcinj are negotiating on the topic, but that there are different views on possible management models.
Although the Mayor of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu, stated at the time that his intention was for the new company to be formed by the end of last year, this did not happen.
As planned, the Municipality of Ulcinj would be a co-owner with the Government in the newly formed company Nature Park "Ulcinj Saltworks".
The establishment of a company also requires the consent of the Government.
