Montenegro has exceptional potential for investment in the field of health and MICE tourism, assessed the relevant Minister Simonida Kordić, adding that additional investments in congress capacities are needed in order to attract a wider range of visitors and extend the season.
During a meeting with Serbian Ambassador Nebojša Rodić, she said that Montenegro has exceptional potential for investment in these areas.
The meeting assessed that the deep historical and traditional ties between Montenegro and Serbia represent a strong foundation for even more intensive cooperation in tourism. Both sides emphasized that Montenegro is a natural and desirable choice for Serbian tourists, who feel welcome and comfortable there.
Kordić stated that tourists from Serbia are traditionally the most numerous in Montenegro, and that they have special significance for the entire tourism industry, adding that she is convinced that the number of arrivals will increase further this year.
She recalled that the coronavirus pandemic and geopolitical challenges have shown how important it is to open new markets and diversify the tourism offer.
Kordić announced that this is being actively worked on, and mentioned the possibility of creating a joint regional tourism product aimed at distant markets, which would present the region as a unique destination offering new tourist experiences.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of continuously improving infrastructure and expanding accommodation and supporting capacities, with the aim of extending the tourist season and strengthening the overall competitiveness of the destination.
They also said that organizing the EXPO 2027 event in Belgrade will be a significant opportunity for Montenegro.
