Relations between Montenegro and the Netherlands are good, but there is significant room for expanding cooperation, assessed the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
She met with the Dutch Ambassador to Montenegro, Martijn Elgersma, and introduced him to the potential that Montenegro offers, emphasizing that there is a great opportunity for investment, especially in the northern part of the country, which is becoming increasingly popular among tourists.
"This region stands out, among other things, for its untouched nature and authentic food," the statement said.
Kordić particularly emphasized Montenegro's goal to expand the tourist season to the entire year. In this context, she mentioned the development of MICE and health tourism as opportunities to increase the number of visits during the off-season months.
Kordić emphasized the importance of sustainable development, as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism towards diversifying the tourism product.
Elgersma praised the example of cooperation in the field of tourism and hospitality student exchange between Montenegro and the Netherlands.
He also stated that the Western Balkans should be more visible on the world tourism map, adding that interest in Montenegro is growing.
Elgersma praised Montenegro's efforts to improve its tourism offering and stressed the importance of further investments and promoting our country as an attractive destination.
The meeting assessed that tourism represents an ideal bridge for connecting countries, as it overcomes many barriers. It was agreed that communication and cooperation in this area will continue, with an emphasis on joint initiatives that can contribute to the development of tourism in both countries.
