Minister of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography Damir Gutić and Acting Director of the Customs Administration Maja Vučinić met to discuss the possibility of recognizing beneficial service for certain employees of that administration.
The meeting highlighted the importance of the work performed by customs officers in difficult working conditions, as well as the need for additional evaluation of their contribution, the Ministry announced.
"During a constructive conversation, Minister Gutić emphasized the importance that Customs Administration officials have in protecting the economic interests of the state, combating illegal trade, and maintaining security at the borders. With special attention to challenging working conditions, the legal basis and criteria for recognizing beneficial work experience were discussed," they said.
Vučinić informed the minister about the specifics of the work performed by field officers, who are exposed to increased risks and difficult working conditions, and emphasized the need for additional evaluation of their contribution.
"It was concluded that the Customs Administration, in cooperation with the competent institutions, will initiate the necessary analyses and procedures to determine the justification and manner of regulating the benefit of seniority for this group of employees, in accordance with the applicable legislation. Minister Gutić and the Acting Director of the Customs Administration expressed their joint commitment to further improving the position of customs officers and strengthening the overall efficiency of the customs system," the statement reads.
