Montenegro is an associate member of the Three Seas Initiative, announced today the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
"The plenary session of today's Three Seas Initiative summit has just ended and it is truly my great, great pleasure to say that Montenegro is, as of today, an associate member of this important regional initiative. After we become a member of the European Union (EU), we will also become a full member of this initiative, but our accession today as an associate member is one step forward towards our full membership in the EU," Milatović emphasized in a video statement provided by the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.
He added that it is very important to be part of such initiatives.
"These are very important regional initiatives that bring together countries from the wider region in the area of cooperation related to infrastructure, digital economy, energy, and I think that today we have once again sent a very important message from Montenegro, our commitment to what is our European path. So here, today in Warsaw, after this initiative has existed for ten years, Montenegro is finally becoming an associate member," said Milatović.
The Tenth Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, jointly launched by Croatia and Poland in 2015, is being held in Warsaw, reports Radio Free Europe (RFE).
