The "Big Beach or Big Lie" coalition will organize a two-day public camp on that part of the coast starting Friday, May 2nd.
As they state, the camp will be organized under the slogan "Freedom to the Beach", and the key message is that Velika Plaza must remain free for people, nature, and future generations.
"The Great Beach in Ulcinj, one of the last naturally preserved expanses of the Adriatic, is facing intentions that threaten to turn it into yet another privatized, destroyed zone. That is why we are gathering on its shores on May 2nd and 3rd to defend, celebrate and preserve it. Under the name 'Freedom to the Beach!', a two-day public camp is being organized with the aim of sending a clear message to citizens, the media and decision-makers: the Great Beach must remain free - for people, nature and future generations," it was announced.
The camp will be held at the "Laguna" kiteboarding center.
"Everyone is welcome - children, parents, friends, pets and campers. The event brings together people from all over Montenegro - scientists, artists, activists, athletes and families - in support of preserving the natural and public character of Velika Plaza. The program includes thematic workshops, exhibitions, talks, art installations, activities for children and lots of socializing and exchange," it was announced.
In the spirit of camping and togetherness, they add, they will promote care for the space we share - free from waste, noise, and concrete.
"We invite citizens to bring their tents, water bottles, sunscreen and good mood. We have provided a camping area, while any support for the preservation of the beach is precious. Velika Plaza is not just a tourist potential, Velika Plaza is not a desert. It is a network of complex ecosystems of many rare animal and plant species, a place of memory and identity, a space that breathes freedom. If we do not stand up for it now - it could soon become another lost part of natural Montenegro. So join us. Come, listen, learn, connect and become part of this fight. Freedom for the beach - freedom for all," the statement reads.
