Spajić on Marta Kos's response: We will wait for the second, third and 105th view

Improper application of anything would lead to bad consequences, Milojko Spajić announced today.

He told reporters in Bar, when asked to comment on the fact that European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, in her response to Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, stated that "The Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development between the Governments of Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not at first glance contrary to European Union (EU) law or the Stabilization and Association Agreement of Montenegro with the EU (SAA), because it does not contain enough details, but improper application and interpretation of some of its provisions could lead to violations of these regulations in the field of public procurement and discrimination against European and Montenegrin companies in favor of potential investors from the UAE."

He said that after this opinion, Kos expects even greater support for the Agreement in parliament.

"I think it is explicitly clear in the first sentence of the opinion, which, unfortunately, I have not yet formally received, that the Agreement is not against European legislation. We will see a second view, since Kos stated that the Agreement does not seem to be in conflict with European legislation at first glance. We will wait for the second and third and 105th views. They formally sent a letter saying that the Agreement is not in conflict with European legislation, which was the essence of the question sent by the President, so I am very satisfied with such an answer. It shows that the Government was completely right when it said that the Agreement is in line with European legislation," said Spajić.

He added that Montenegro is fully aligned with European legislation in terms of competition and state aid.

"As you know, we should close that chapter very soon, this year, so I think that is an indicator that we were absolutely right regarding this agreement and we are glad that the European Commission confirmed that. There is no obstacle to adopting this Agreement because the assistance offered was related to the implementation of the agreement and not its adoption," said Spajić.

Therefore, he said, there are no obstacles to this Agreement being adopted in parliament.

"I think the majority should be much larger. Last time, the agreement was adopted with 50 or so MPs. I think that this time 81 MPs have every right to vote with great pleasure for a phenomenal agreement that will boost the economy of Montenegro," said Spajić.

Today, he attended the laying of the cornerstone for the construction of a kindergarten in Bar.
