The Montenegrin Customs Administration and the Croatian Ministry of Finance - Customs Administration, have concluded a Memorandum of Understanding, with the aim of strengthening mutual cooperation in the area of data and information exchange important for the efficient implementation of customs regulations.
"The memorandum represents a significant step forward in improving institutional and operational cooperation between the two administrations, with a particular focus on the detection and prevention of customs violations, tax evasion, smuggling and other forms of illegal activities, thereby further strengthening regional security and contributing to the protection of the financial interests of both countries," the statement said.
Special emphasis was placed on, as announced, establishing efficient mechanisms for prompt and secure exchange of information, thus enabling timely action and coordinated action in accordance with the applicable legislative framework.
Acting Director of the Customs Administration, Maja Vučinić, expressed her gratitude for the unreserved and continuous support that the Customs Administration - Ministry of Finance of Croatia continuously provides to the Customs Administration of Montenegro, through various initiatives, which is the key to improving cooperation in the region and beyond.
She said that the signing of the Memorandum will contribute to raising cooperation to a higher level, through improved information exchange mechanisms and more efficient controls in order to ensure a high level of citizen security and economic stability.
The Director of the Customs Administration - Ministry of Finance of Croatia, Mario Demirović, assessed that the conclusion of the Memorandum is of great importance for strengthening bilateral cooperation and joint efforts in the fight against cross-border crime.
He emphasized full readiness for open cooperation and provision of support in all segments of customs operations, with the aim of further strengthening the professional capacities and operational efficiency of both administrations.
