The French-Turkish consortium Aeroports de Paris - TAV, which was one of three qualified bidders for the lease of the airports in Podgorica and Tivat, has withdrawn its bids, so the government commission will continue the procedure by considering two bids received from the South Korean company "Incheon International Airport Corporation" and "Corporacion America Airports SA" from Luxembourg.
After the deadline for submitting bids expired yesterday, the Government announced that these two bids had arrived, without explaining why the third competitor withdrew.
"The tender commission for the concession procedure for the right to use the Podgorica and Tivat airports conducted a public opening of bids for the award of the concession for the Airports of Montenegro on May 9, in the presence of authorized representatives of the two bidders," the government said in a statement.
The commission will, as they stated, submit a report on the evaluation of the submitted bids to the Ministry of Transport for further consideration within 30 days from the date of opening the bids.
The government can accept one of the offers or abandon the concession of the airport.
The Incheon International Airport Corporation, among other things, operates Asia's largest airport, Incheon, from Seoul, South Korea. It has an annual traffic of over 70 million passengers.
"Corporacion America Airports SA" operates 52 airports, mostly in South America, and in Europe, it has Florence, Pisa and Yerevan.
The pre-qualification tender was announced in 2019 and was passed by four companies. The Indian company “GMR Airports Limited”, whose main airports are “Indira Gandhi” in Delhi, as well as Cebu in the Philippines and “Sabiha Gokcen” in Istanbul, subsequently withdrew.
The members of the Aeroports de Paris - TAV consortium, together or separately, manage 120 airports in 50 countries. Among other things, they also manage three airports in the Zagreb, Skopje and Ohrid regions.
